The school and the Presbyterian mission has undertaken several projects and more projects are still in process.
Completed Projects:
- The first and most important project was the building of a new administrative block and library.
- The next project was the expansion of the girls' dormitories. In 1992 six more dormitories were added to the girls and three bathrooms. Each dorm is capable of accommodating at least thirty students.
- That same year, the project of expanding the staff houses was accomplished. Three new staff houses were built amongst which was the house of the principal.
- After the serious arm robbery attack of 1993, the P.T.A voted for the fencing of the school premises, this was a big project that was accomplished with success by the end of summer 1994. The school is currently fenced and well protected against attacks.
- The high school block, a two storey block with eight large classrooms was built in 1993, which was used as form five in 1994 but is now second cycle.
- With the increasing population of the school, there was the need for refectory expansion. This was done in 1995 together with the expansion and modification of the food and nutrition lab.
- Building of a computer lab equiped with modern computers.
- Building of a new dispensary unit.
All these projects listed above were accomplished successfully. Special thanks to the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon and also the Parent Teachers Association, who morally and finiacially supported the school in these projects.
Active Project : Deep Water Project (DWP)
A few years ago, we engaged in a water project at our alma mater to commemorate the silver jubilee of “our blessed fountain”. Many of us agreed to carry out this project because it was common knowledge, at the time, that a constant water supply was and is still, a major problem at P.S.S. Mankon.
When this project was finished, the students, administrators, and parents too were delighted. Everyone expressed joy when the first drops of water trickled forth.
We, as Pemexans, applauded ourselves for giving back to an institution that gave us the immeasurable gift of what we are now. The students were equally contented because valuable time and energy spent foraging for consumable water could now be directed toward learning, the primary motive. Unfortunately, all our joy was short-lived!!!
A project, so well conceived, was very poorly executed. Blame for this dismal failure can be apportioned to many quarters, including ourselves. However, the blame game and any name calling will not cause those rusted pipes to bring forth “liquid gold”.
That is why we are shifting gears now. We want to resurrect this project and show the world that Pemexans can deliver. We have done our homework, and have learned from our mistakes.
P.S.S. Mankon needs our help. Our goal is not to solve all the problems at P.S.S. Mankon but to forge a new path, create a new vision and place our alma mater, infrastructure-wise as well, on the pedestal we all believe it deserves.
The project committee (Pemexa USA) needs your help. We are in the process of engaging a contractor, with a good track record, to redeem this project. The price tag is about 5.000.000 FCFA.
We are soliciting support from all pemexans. No amount is too small. Make your contribution using any of the following methods.
