I was trying to re-collect some memories of what the menu looked like back in the early 80's. The list below looks like what we used to have.

Day Breakfast Lunch Super/Dinner
Monday Bread/Tea Cornchaff Rice/Stew
Tuesday Cornchaff Plantain/Soup Garri/Okra
Wednesday Bread/Tea Cornchaff Rice/Stew
Thursday Pap/puffpuff Plantain/Beans Garri/Okra
Friday Bread/Tea Cornchaff Rice/Stew
Saturday Cornchaff Fufu/Jamajama Rice/Soup/Egg
Sunday Bread/Tea Rice/Beans Garri/Okra

From 1981-1984, we used to have fried fish with some of the meals. Between 1984-1986, it was changed to boiled fish (for economic rather than health reasons). Rumor has it that the juice from the boiled fish rendered a tastier soup. Some of the fringe benefits that came at the discretion of our "grands" included having a banana with our rice meals. Rumor also has it that this was a regular part of our meals but the "grands" took the liberty to eat all the banana and only shared what they could not finish. I can neither confirm nor deny this.

What about the special meals for players on Saturdays? Yummy!!! What about the days when a cow is killed? How much I used to enjoy the fighting over the bone. Just wondering how much I missed those days. That was before one became a vegetarian.

Did the menu ever change with time? Do we still have beans as a daily constituent of the meals in PSS? Finally, why is that everyone was using teaspoons to eat while in the refectory but at the dorm, reverted to the regular spoon?
